Constellations #4 - PERF
Constelaciones is a series of encounters that invites architecture and design studios to reveal the origin of their thinking not through the result, but through what makes it possible: the web of references, ideas, contexts and experiences that shape how they see and design.
On 8 October, PERF will build their own constellation, a map to understand what inspires their work, how their research process comes together, and how territory, tradition and experimentation have shaped their trajectory and identity as a studio.
Based in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, PERF is an architecture studio that explores how to reinterpret local architecture through a contemporary lens. Their work starts from observing construction traditions and ways of living deeply tied to place, distilling their essential principles and turning them into precise, current architectural proposals committed to their context.
Guided by the idea Global noise, local voice, the studio treats each project as an open research process in which dialogue, observation and experimentation become design tools. Steering clear of nostalgia and repeated formulas, PERF explores new ways of building rooted in place, understanding architecture as a practice able to connect past, present and future.
PERF is led by Gonzalo Auger, Miquel Benedito, Carlos Cardona and Sergi Sauras, who develop architecture, design and urban planning projects through a critical approach attentive to context. Their practice draws on a wide range of influences, from architecture and design to visual culture, music and literature, building a universe of references as broad as it is varied.
In this Constelaciones session, the studio will share the concerns, discoveries and references that feed their work, tracing a journey through the ideas, places and people that have helped shape their way of understanding architecture.
